Everyday Bow Ties was founded by Geraldo De-Souza out of his love for bow ties. As a little boy, Geraldo grew up in the family sewing business – which just so happened to be in West Africa! At the ripe old age of seven he quickly learned from his mother how to do the finish work and became an expert at hems, buttons and pressing. He soon graduated from finish work to the sewing of school and military uniforms to dresses and suits for men and women. It wasn't long before he was creating his own designs.

When it was time for college, he ventured off to Brazil to study Architecture (unbeknownst to him at the time, that this degree would come in handy with the structure and integrity of creating a bow tie). After graduating Architecture school, he set off for America and landed in Upstate New York in the middle of the winter! His timing probably could have been better. Snow was flying and needless to say, this was a completely new adventure for him coming from the heat and humidity of Africa - and of course, from his surfing days in Brazil.

He earned a business degree through SUNY and worked as an Insurance Salesman for over 20 years. Among his colleagues, he was known for his impeccable way of dressing. When he became bored with the same old design and pattern of neckties, he decided to go back to his roots of what he learned as a child in the family sewing business. He always had a love for bow ties, but they fell short of pizzazz and were just not the style he was looking for. That is when he started creating his own! He started with some of his favorite neckties that he had collected over the years and converted them into rejuvenated new bow ties. The compliments among colleagues and perfect strangers started to pour in. He soon realized that there were others out there that had a similar love for bow ties, but were hesitant to take the leap because of the lack of style and pizzazz with the available supply out there. With a little push (okay, more than just a little push – maybe a firm shove) from his wife, he decided to share his love and talent for handcrafting bow ties with the rest of the world. You will find his choice of style and design is such that bow ties can be worn "Everyday" and not just on special occasions or by those "getting on" in age. Everyday Bow Ties are fun and hip for all ages! Brace yourself - you might just find yourself hooked on the bow ties reminiscent of his African culture. Who knew that batik bow ties were so much fun to wear?
